She looked utterly shocked. No one had turned her down before and it threw her off her game for a while. She asked me what was wrong with me and I told her I already had a girlfriend. She got her mind back on track and looked for more guys. She found them easily.
Soon, the tournament started at the arena. I peeked over the fence with my girlfriend and we looked on with boredom. It was the same as always. The girl walked out to the middle of the arena, carrying a big card that said "THE PRIZE!" on it. The idea was you'd buy a ticket, then you had to fight one of the other suitors to the death; then, with her consent, you'd have the privilege of taking her out on a date.
I watched as men tore into each other and broke each other's bodies. Permanent damage was done, crowds cheered and the guy got his date with the girl. Just one date. The guy then died from his wounds and she was out selling raffle tickets again.
She came up to me with a big smile and offered me a chance to win the opportunity to take her out on a date. I said "No."
