556 A Smile of Hope on the Commute

The holidays were over. I stood at the front door and looked out at the dark void, listening to the rain hammer down. I sighed and took the first step back to work.

I reached the tiny makeshift shelter I used to wait for the bus. The other regular commuters were there and we waited until the bus showed up.

We all got on board and it was back on the road to work. Things were pretty dreary.

Just then I saw a familiar smiling face. Gosh it was so good to see her again and I only ever saw her on the commute. She was saving a seat for me. I sat next to her and we chatted about the holidays for the whole journey.
