9 College girlfriend

After spending my whole life going to school in my small hometown, I was looking forward to going to college and meeting new people. But most of all, I was hoping to finally get a girlfriend.

Choosing computer science was a mistake. When I got to my first class, the room was half full and it was nearly all dudes in there. I heard an audible groan from them. I didn't know what was up until more students came in. Anytime it was another dude they groaned and anytime it was a girl they went "yessss!", which didn't happen very often. This was the first big shock I got of college life — that it was hardly any different from regular school life.

I carried on a few months. Winter came. It got cold and dark and I still didn't have a girlfriend. One day during video game development class, I was listening to the lecturer drone on about making another soccer management simulation when I got a message on my computer.

"Hey, wanna get out of here and go see a movie?". It was sent from the girl in class I liked. I looked over at her and she winked. I smiled and winked back. "Yeah let's get out of here" I messaged her back.

One way college was different from school was that you could just walk out of the room anytime you wanted. You didn't have sneak out or anything. When we got out however, it did feel like a great escape. We chatted and learned that we shared a passion for games but not for soccer management sims. We went to see a movie together, talking and learning about each other's passion for games. It was more valuable and educational than sitting in that computer lab, that's for sure.
