I looked over the balcony at the rest of the student apartment block. I didn't do this very often but I was exhausted and drained. I needed to look at something that wasn't a book or a word processor.
I looked from balcony to balcony, wondering who lived there and what their workload was. If it was anything like mine. I wondered if their classmates and lecturers were anything like mine.
Soon I spotted another face looking over their balcony. A very pretty face but also a very tired one. We looked at each other for a few moments without saying anything. Then we started smiling at each other, as if we had an understanding.
We signalled to each other and arranged to meet up. We spent time at each other's apartments and talked about our college experience, about how we were treated by everyone, about how much more work we had to do than anyone else. We got close. We decided to just disappear together.
When the time came, we got our pieces of paper and vanished from everyone who leeched off of us. They either failed or got fired and everything fell apart for them.
