336 Cosy Video Rental Store

Everyday I walked the dog past the old video store and I would look back on fond old 90s memories. It was closed down now of course. Or at least that's what I thought... One day I noticed someone moving around inside...

I took a closer look and I saw a lady beckoning me to come inside. I took a peek in the door and beheld walls full of old VHS tapes! At the counter was the lady I remembered who ran the store originally. "Come on in!" she said, "dogs are welcome too!". My dog wagged its tail.

We went inside and we got warm welcomes, just like the old days! "It's been forever since you've come here!" she said, petting my dog. "It has!" I said, "I'm glad to see you're open again!". She then turned to me and said "What are you talking about? I've been open the whole time!"

"You've been open the whole time?!" I said.
"Yes! Now I see why you haven't been visiting!"
"If I had known! I still love movies and I still have a VHS player too!"
"Oh that's fantastic! See hun? I told you some people still have them!"

She was speaking to someone else behind the counter. It was a younger version of her, who was looking at her smartphone. She looked up at me and smiled "Wow! Hi!"

"This is my daughter. I don't think you've met. This man used to come here all the time!" I said hi back. She looked just like a younger version of her mother.

"I have her working here for a while. You know, so the government doesn't get her"
"Ah yes..." I said, remembering the the new "work or die" law.

"Pick out some videos on the house!" she said "and have a marathon at home. Take my daughter with you too. She could do with a break. Honey, leave your phone here so they don't track you."

"Ok mom!" she said happily, putting her phone away in a drawer.

"Here, take some money for pizza too" she said, giving us more than enough.

We left the video store with bags full of VHS tapes. The three of us - her daughter, myself and the dog, went back to my house where I had the VHS player set up and ready to go. She hadn't seen many of these classic movies, but she was eager to learn about them.
