My girlfriend and I stood at the top of a skyscraper building, leaning against the railing. We could see the whole city, the other buildings and skyscrapers. We could also see what was going on below, with the sirens and violence. We thought about stuff and chatted about stuff.
We talked about this fleeting sense of freedom we had while we were up here. We talked about how imprisoned we were below. We talked about our dreams of freedom and just how we could go about achieving them.
We stayed on the roof for some time, at least until the bouts of violence stopped. After that we returned to the streets, our thoughts becoming clouded by everyday life once again, but we still had our dreams deep down where no one could get at them. This lead to us finding our freedom away from this horrible place.
The next time we had a bird's eye view of the city was on the plane we took out of there.
