It finally rained again. Don't get me wrong, it was nice to get a break from the rain, but the heatwave went on for so long that the grass was starting to lose its colour.
Not everyone was happy about it either. The first chance I got to have a day out in ages, it rained heavily. I stood at the entrance to the bus shelter, waiting for the rain to let up. There was a lovely rainbow I could've watched for ages, but the movie I wanted to see at the cinema was starting soon. Then I saw her, a lone figure carrying an umbrella.
She was dressed all in green. Green skirt, green coat, green shoes, green socks, green umbrella... I expected her hair to be green too, but when she raised her umbrella, she had a bright white smile that seemed to glow, shiny blonde hair and beautiful green eyes. Her ensemble really brought them out.
"Grand day for it!" she said to me.
"Yeah" I laughed "Great day for a movie. I wouldn't be as well dressed as yourself for it though"
She thanked me for the compliment and offered to escort me to the cinema under her umbrella. I gladly accepted. She held her umbrella over my head and rested her arm across my shoulders. She was pretty tall.
We walked to the cinema. The street was quiet, apart from the rain splashing on the ground. She was a very chatty and charming girl, asking me what I was going to see and what I was planning to do afterwards. She really cheered me up on this dreary day. Far more than the movie in fact, when we parted ways at the cinema. I thanked her and she gave me a nice hug before leaving on her way, saying she might just join me afterwards to grab a bite to eat.
After the movie it had stopped raining. I enjoyed it but the highlight of my day was meeting the girl in green that helped me get here comfortably and dry. I looked outside. The rainbow was now more intense than it was and it started raining again. Then I noticed a familiar green figure in the distance heading my way. Under the green umbrella was a familiar, warm smile.
