I went out with the pizza box into the flowing sea of protesters. They were chanting and causing property damage. They even smashed the window of the pizza place as I was leaving. I looked back and saw my boss who yelled after me "Go! Just go!". Yikes.
Some of the protesters yelled at me as I pushed through the crowd. Some of them looked hungry and others screamed at me just because the pizza place's branding had the national flag as part of the logo. Double yikes.
At one point I saw a guy some distance away who was handing cans of Pepsi out to people. I looked at him and he looked at me. We didn't need to speak as we understood each other. We nodded to each other in solidarity throughout this madness.
Then I came to a solid wall of people who weren't budging for anything. I looked at them and scratched my head under my cap, wondering how I was going to get through this. Just then, a girl showed up and confronted me. "You! What are you doing here? Whose side are you on?". I turned to her. She had some colours and letters painted on her face and was wearing a pirate's bandanna. With her long flowing blonde hair she looked really pretty for a protester. There was no doubt she was part of this though.
"I dunno... I'm just passing through to deliver pizza. That's it". I said.
She nodded and thought for a moment... "Hmm... people gotta eat..." she murmured. "Alright! Come with me!" she said and gestured me to follow her. I did so, wondering how she was gonna get us through that wall of protesters.
She scanned the crowd, looking from face to face, from banner to banner. Eventually she came across a group called "women against protesting" and yelled at them to "get the f@~K out of our way!". Before she gave them a chance to answer she brutally punched a fat girl with blue hair in the temple and another girl with thick glasses and green hair square in the nose, breaking them. The way cleared a little bit before lots of screaming happened.
I couldn't believe my eyes! This girl was punching and kicking people left and right who stood in her way, leaving them in a bloody mess on the ground. I stepped over the bodies as expensive smartphone cameras were being shoved in my face, the crowd screaming "Shame on you! Toxic male!". I held the pizza box in the air above my head with both hands, saying "I'm just delivering pizza dude! I'm just delivering pizza!"
We kept going on and on until the crowd cleared a bit. I looked behind and saw my friend tucking cans of Pepsi under the bodies of people who were beaten up. He looked at me and gave me a thumbs up. I nodded and went forward.
I caught up with the girl who got me through the crowd. Her face was flushed with excitement as she punched the palm of her hand "Ha ha ha! That was great! We got through 'em!". "Thanks for helping me back there" I said. "No problem! Now go deliver that pizza! I'll be waiting here for you when you get back" she said, before giving me a kiss on the cheek. I went on to make my delivery.
