51 SEGA Dreamcast Girlfriend

The internet was a pretty new thing in the late 90s, especially in my hometown. Life offline wasn't the most exciting and I didn't have anyone to share my passion of video games with. When the SEGA Dreamcast came out it offered an answer to my problems.

It was a game console but it connected to the internet. One of the first mainstream ones to do so. When I got one it came with a keyboard and when I used the service I got my first e-mail address. There were also chatrooms which were awesome. Soon I was making friends and we chatted and e-mailed about games all the time.

Then I met a girl on there. While everyone was chatting about Sonic Adventure 2, we chatted about Space Channel 5 and Jet Set Radio. When we actually played games it was ChuChu Rocket! because that was the only online game we had. She beat me at the game every single time. She was incredible at it.

We eventually decided to meet up in person. She was gorgeous. She had blue eyes and long blonde hair with bangs. This was a rare sight back in the day. Back then, girls I knew were getting into Buffy The Vampire Slayer, cutting their hair short and dying it red. No, this girl was very much from earlier in the 90s. We talked about a lot of nostalgic TV shows and games we grew up with. We listened to the Jet Set Radio soundtrack, feeling part of that fictional subculture and really loved everything the Dreamcast gave us. We really hit it off and became a couple.

The SEGA Dreamcast scene eventually died, which was a shock to us, but our relationship lived on and went from strength to strength. Almost every single Sonic game ever made came to the Nintendo GameCube and she still played ChuChu Rocket! puzzles on the Game Boy Advance. Big changes were happening in video games but we faced them together.
