My girlfriend and I liked living low tech but we still had an awareness of trends through various forms of advertising. When she pointed out to me the lady who appeared in all those credit card adverts, my face went pale.
She noticed us and started running after us with her big stock photo model smile. "Oh no!" I said as I grabbed my girlfriend's hand and we started running. It was too late though. Within moments the obnoxious lady was right in front of us and in our faces.
She said "Hi! I notice you're still using cash. Why not sign up for a credit card today and get rid of the cash!". Up until now, my girlfriend hadn't understood why I reacted the way I did but now she did. She punched the lady in the face and yelled "Let's get outta here!"
"STOP!" The lady yelled with a different tone in her voice as we ran away. She fired some kind of laser at us but kept missing. Unfortunately she hit other people in the street and they turned into credit cards. This was her secret weapon.
We had to go into hiding for a long time and prepare. When we did, we emerged into an apocalyptic cashless wasteland. It wasn't long until the lady showed up again with her credit card offers. In response to this we took out our weapons, loaded with pennies for ammunition, and vanquished her.
