I wasn't particularly religious but my girlfriend grew up with it and it was a big part of her background. I didn't mind going to church with her now and again.
We often went when mass wasn't on and we'd just sit in the pews. My girlfriend prayed for everyone in her life. She was quiet but I heard her murmur the names of her family and my own name too while she was praying. It was really nice.
After praying, we would leave the church and go about our day. Something always felt a bit different before and after visiting this place, especially when she prayed. I couldn't put my finger on it but it always felt like a good thing.
