I searched through archives of old computer games magazines in search of a particular public domain game. Was it real or something I imagined?
It was of a girlfriend simulator and I could swear it existed. I brought it up on a forum recently and I was laughed off the internet. No one believed me.
I became desperate. I pored over every online archive I could find and squinted at the listing of every list of software available on demo disks.
I eventually found something. It was from a website in a foreign language that wasn't in service anymore and I had to use a special internet archive site in order to access anything on it. I found the software along with some grainy low-res screenshots and it was the last update ever made on that site.
Happy with my find, I downloaded the girlfriend simulator program and ran it in an emulator. Suddenly a beautiful girl who looked like a 90s popstar appeared on the screen and started climbing out of it. I jumped back in shock as she made her way into my room. She gave me a friendly hi and said she was my new girlfriend if I'd have her.
The sight of her and all those wonderful memories of 90s things came rushing back to me. This girl brought me to my happy place. Of course I told her yes!
