When I was growing up, ladies in the local area would note in delight how much I looked like my dad. Then they would tell me to "Say hi to your dad for me!"
I would tell dad when he got home and he would thank me but also shushed me, telling me not to say it in front of mom. For the longest time I didn't understand why.
Later, when I started going out with girls, it was then I finally understood. One day an ex girlfriend was talking to my at the time girlfriend. I saw them and hid behind the corner. I knew they didn't get along. The moment I understood what my dad meant was when my ex said "Say hi to your boyfriend for me!"
Then they started tearing each other apart. The screaming and kicking and biting was intense. I walked out from behind the corner and walked towards them, saying "Girls! I get it now! I finally get it!"
Some time later I was lying on the ground, thinking about my sudden realisation. On either side of me were the girls, snoozing peacefully. My face was covered in lipstick marks from both girls. I said to myself "Dad... I finally understand!"
