My girlfriend, a big, cheerful, kind woman walked into the living room one day in a pink shirt that said "Good Mommy" on it. She asked me what I thought and I admit I smiled a lot. I loved it.
Then she showed me a matching shirt for me. A baby blue shirt that said "Good Baby Boy" on it. I stopped smiling.
She chased me around the room, trying to get me to wear it. Eventually she caught me and soon, I was curled up in her arms on the couch, with us in our "Mommy" and "Baby Boy" shirts. It was pretty nice actually and I got a bit used to it.
Then she wanted to go out while wearing them. I thought she was nuts but she was serious.
It took a bit more convincing and prising my fingers from the front door frame, but she got me out there with us in the shirts.
We just went out to hang out. We sat in coffee shops, drinking hot chocolate and showing off our shirts. She sat proudly with her arm draped around my shoulder. I was a little shyer, quietly sipping my hot chocolate as people walked by, looking at us.
We got some looks, some comments, even some jealous stares. It was a nice day overall, but I was glad not to be the centre of attention at the end of it. She still made me the centre of her attention though, and that was nice.
