"What are you doing here?" the caretaker asked me when he saw me at my workstation. Everyone had gone home except for me. I had stuff to catch up on but he had to lock the place up because of the emergency.
Everyone had to go home from work or school because of the virus that started spreading. We made small talk about this as I finished up my work and got ready to leave. He locked several doors as we made our way out to the reception area.
Before leaving he asked me if I had a safe way of transport for home. I said I did, that my girlfriend was picking me up.
Just then, a big car pulled up outside. My girlfriend was driving it and she was wearing a face mask and hazmat suit. The caretaker raised his eyebrow. "Well, see you again!" I said to him as I put on my own suit before leaving. "Safe journey home" he said.
My girlfriend drove me home on very quiet roads. I didn't have work for a long time after that but I still went out with my girlfriend on really pleasant journeys without any traffic.
