106 Our Love Survived Thanks to the Internet

When my girlfriend and I were growing up, grown ups thought it was cute and sweet to see us holding hands and spending so much time together. When we became teenagers however, they did all they could to keep us apart. We kept in contact through the internet.
It felt like the whole world was against us. Curfews were imposed, we were separated all the time at school, snobby cliques forbade us to be anywhere near each other... it was horrible and oppressive and lonely. We would gush to each other when we got a chance to chat online.

Back then I had no idea why grown ups were against us hanging out with each other. I know now alright. When I think about all the deeply personal stuff my girlfriend used to say to me, how badly she wanted to be with me right there and then.... hoo boy...

By day we would go on with our day and not be in contact with each other at all, other than the odd secret glances and gestures. By night we would chat online like great lovers. The normal people at school and our everyday life had no idea and were obsessed with their social hierarchies, their fake and disgusting social hierarchies.

When we graduated from school and came of age, many people were shocked to see that we were together. We disobeyed the system and the way things were and our love found a way.
