A friend of mine invited me to a movie watch party, which in these times meant watching a movie while participating in a social media hashtag. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed people's chat messages, particularly of one girl who was hilarious.
Her comments were even more enjoyable than the movie. Her jokes and appeal really got to me and stuck in my mind, even though after the event, the movie stream and the chat messages faded into history.
A long time later I was finally able to meet with my friend again, but this time he had someone with him. I didn't recognise her at first but when she started talking I remembered her straight away.
We talked about that movie night and how much I enjoyed her messages. She was every bit as charming as she was online. Things went places from there.
There was another movie night, only this time it was the two of us on the same couch rather than the same hashtag.
