844 The Last Day Before Christmas and Halloween

By some strange turn of events, the colder half of the year became one big national holiday. No one had to work and everything closed down. Halloween and Christmas were part of this and seasonal sections in shops got confusing. It was like some kind of nightmare.

In the last days before everything closed down, my girlfriend and I ran around the shops, trying to get everything done. We did eventually and the last thing on the list was to have dinner.

The only problem was, everyone else had the same idea. They wanted a fancy dinner to have before the restaurants became take-away only. There were queues of people and then the people who were eating were being hurried along.

Then we got the idea to just go to a normal chipper. They were normally full of people too but today they were very quiet! We got service on par with first class, we got extra chips and some other food and treats free of charge.

We sat on the curb of the street, eating our food. Some people looked at us strangely but we were really happy. It was some of the best food we were able to eat for a long time.
