I became close friends with a girl who was very shy and didn't like speaking to people, but she liked puppetry. In fact the only time I heard her speak clearly was when she spoke to me through her puppet, so it was like I was friends with her puppet.
The puppet and I talked a lot about things and we had loads in common. She was great company. I was starting to have feelings for her and they were getting stronger, but I knew it was the puppeteer I was falling in love with, not the puppet herself.
I confessed my feelings and the puppet said she loved me too and she was so happy. The puppet then made little puppet kisses on my face. I looked at the puppeteer and she was in tears and smiling. I had never seen her so happy.
The puppet often apologised that the puppeteer was always around on our dates. I would then stand up for her. It caused some awkward moments but I was hopeful for a breakthrough.
Eventually my shy girlfriend opened up to me and everything got better and better. We still kept the puppet around as a good friend though. Plus, my girlfriend got puppet gigs at parties which helped her confidence even more.
