170 A Peaceful Walk During Wartime

War broke out in the city and unfortunately my family had to evacuate. Thankfully all was still peaceful in the countryside where my cousins lived and I met a girl who lived on the other side of a field between our houses.

She and I always went for walks in the field while our parents were glued to the TV for news about the war. We were too young to understand a lot of what was going on and we were safe enough here in the countryside. We walked side by side, hand in hand, listening to the birds singing and to each other's stories.

I told her what life was like in the city and she showed me lots of stuff in the countryside. She showed me some cool little hiding spots under shrubs and in trees. These would surely come in handy if the war came out here. However, since it was peaceful here, we just used them for our growing love for one another. Holding hands, kisses... we spent all our time in each other's company during these tough times.
