180 Post Christmas Slump

I woke up in a strange room. Well, it was my own room, but it was strangely quiet. Over the past few days my older siblings were home for Christmas with their kids so it was pretty animated. They went back to their own homes.

My parents weren't home either. They went to the sales. I got up and walked around the house, which was now colder and darker.

I went into the kitchen and switched on the light. The dog was curled up in its usual spot. It opened its eyes at me and didn't move, except for a little wag of its tail.

I poured some cereal. For the past couple of days I was eating chocolate for breakfast. Seemed like a long time since I ate cereal. It tasted different. It was all over and I was alone now. I sighed.

I got a message from my girlfriend. "Are they gone?". I texted back "Yeah"

"They're gone here too. TG"
"How did it go?"
"Ok. They were really loud though."
"Same here"
"I love you"
"I love you too"

We texted for a while, enjoying our little bit of time together. We didn't have the same opportunities as our siblings did, but at least we had each other.
