183 It Was a Tough Year

When 2018 started I began rebuilding my home, which was destroyed by an evil gang. I thought I had outlasted them, but they returned. I decided to fight back.

I had my little victories. For months I managed to avoid their menace and spread the word about their evil ways, but eventually they caught up with me and put me through a lot of pain and needless starvation. I had to go through appeasement and humiliation just to survive. For the most part I fought alone but I couldn't do this by myself. For the first time in at least five years I decided to find and make friends.

Towards the end of the year I finally found people with whom I could connect. One of them became my girlfriend and we had all suffered under the oppressive regime of the evil gang. We formed a cooperative that had the facade of being good for the gang, but it was just a front for what we really were, a group of freedom fighters. Together as a group, we were able to see out the rest of the year in disguise, but in 2019 there will come a point where we will have to show ourselves and fight. On New Year's Eve, my girlfriend and I will be holding hands as we enter the next phase of the war.
