We were both extremely shy about meeting up but we both really wanted to. She didn't have a console anymore and I did. All she had was her favourite game cart she treasured dearly. Eventually, we got a chance to meet.
At first, we thought about keeping it light but we got straight on to deep conversations about the deep meanings and memories we had while playing those games in our youth. Within a very short time she was begging me to let her play her cartridge on my console.
When we turned on the game, she squealed as the memories came flooding back to her. She even had save data still on her cartridge.
We played long into the night and into the early morning, talking about everything we loved about the game and about our lives when we played it as kids. We shared stories that were lonely, stories that were happy, and stories about how much we loved the game and coming back to it. We were now making a new story about how we were sharing this experience together.
When we were finished, she thanked me with a tight hug and told me she wanted to do it again the next night. I was delighted to have her again. We connected so well and it just felt like we were made for each other.
