I laid on the couch, barely able to move. The orange glow of the sunset filled the apartment. My girlfriend was with me and we both felt its lovely warm glow. With her help I was able to enjoy it even more. This is how she helped me...
"Wow that sky looks amazing" I said, looking out the window.
"It's so beautiful... Wanna see more of it?" my girlfriend replied.
"Yeah." I said, struggling to move.
"Here. I'll help." she said, going to my side, helping to lift me up, putting her arm around me.
She was really strong and kind. I was amazed at how dedicated she was to me and I was so thankful to her.
"It's ok, babe. I love helping you" she said as she helped me get on my feet.
"*Yawn* thanks. I love you too" I said, trying to move on my feet, trying with all my strength to stretch my muscles and move. My body felt really heavy. She was well able though.
We walked around the apartment for a bit like this, looking out the windows at the spectacular colours in the sky outside.
I thought about going up on the roof. I turned to my girlfriend and by the look in her eyes I could tell she wanted to go up there too. We smiled at each other. We often went up there for fresh air.
With her help we were able to slowly go out into the hallway and towards the elevator. We held on to each other the whole time, chatting. The hallway had been cleaned earlier and it smelled good.
We got in. I lifted my arm to press the button and it took ages but I was finally able to press it. My girlfriend praised me for it telling me I was doing great.
The elevator took us to the top floor. We shuffled out and made our way towards the stairwell to the roof. She helped me lift my weighty feet one at a time, one step at a time.
We finally got out to the roof. The sunset was still there. The sky looked like it was on fire and the fresh air invigorated me. There was a nice gentle breeze too, which felt like warm soft kisses as we shuffled across the rooftop.
We got to the railing. We looked out over the horizon, over the space of the city, over the people below. It was wonderful.
I saw a couple dining al fresco at a restaurant. "That'll be us someday, babe"
"Anywhere" my girlfriend said, "as long as it's with you"
She gave me a kiss. I felt stronger already.
We stayed in each others arms gazing at the sky and sunset until it turned to night. We stayed until it got dark and a little bit cool.
We looked over at the couple. They were still hanging out, having a nice time. We were having a nice time too.
