Going back to school while the pandemic was still raging meant we had to wear extra stuff as part of the uniform. Face masks in the school colours of course, but we also had to wear these weird boxes that ensured social distancing.
At first it was very constricting. We could barely move through hallways and stuff and we had these windows in the sides we had to use for navigation.
Eventually we got used to it... as much as anyone can expect to I suppose. When I brought it home to the floating apartment, my robot girlfriend took one look at it and I could see the inspiration lighting up in her eyes on ways she could improve it. She got to work.
She installed different compartments and features inside the box that I couldn't get away with otherwise. There was a place for holding a smartphone, headphones and various little compartments for snacks and places I could put books.
She also installed an interdimensional portal I could use in case I didn't want to leave the apartment at all. We were able to use a fake double to be physically present in the classroom while I studied lessons comfortably from home. Occasionally, she gave me the odd love note to make the classroom experience more complete.
